Research Computing (AI-HPC)

NPS provides advanced computing resources to support education, research, and Department of Defense missions. These resources include high-performance computing, artificial intelligence platforms, simulation environments, and high-speed research data services.

NPS has deployed an NVIDIA DGX GB300 AI supercomputer, providing researchers with a powerful on-campus platform for AI research, experimentation, and innovation.

The DGX GB300 supports advanced AI model development, accelerated computing, large-scale training and inference, and mission-focused research applications. This resource complements existing NPS computing capabilities and enables exploration of next-generation artificial intelligence technologies.

Hamming Supercomputer

Hamming is the primary high-performance computing resource available to NPS faculty, students, and research staff. The system supports traditional HPC workloads as well as GPU-accelerated artificial intelligence and machine learning applications.

Common uses include modeling and simulation, engineering and scientific computing, data analytics, machine learning, and graduate research. For most users, Hamming is the recommended starting point for computational research at NPS.

NVIDIA Omniverse

NPS maintains an NVIDIA Omniverse environment to support digital twins, visualization, simulation, and collaborative virtual environments.

These capabilities enable researchers to develop, analyze, and evaluate complex operational scenarios using modern modeling and visualization workflows.

ScienceDMZ

NPS operates a ScienceDMZ environment optimized for high-performance data movement and research collaboration.

Integrated Globus services enable secure transfer of large datasets between NPS and external research partners, universities, laboratories, and Department of Defense organizations.
